Bringing It All Together: How Green Custard Delivers Success

Over the past four blog posts, we’ve taken you through the key ingredients that drive successful project delivery at Green Custard. From setting projects up for success to aligning with customer outcomes, managing risk, and ensuring transparency throughout development, our approach is built on experience, continuous learning, and a customer-first mindset. In this final post, we bring it all together and highlight what makes our process work so well.

Starting Projects Right

Success begins before the first line of code is written. We ensure every project starts with a clear definition of customer outcomes—both qualitative and quantitative. This allows us and our customers to measure success in a tangible way. Alongside defining success, we work to identify and mitigate risks early. By having open conversations about potential challenges, we prevent risks from turning into costly issues later on.

Customer Outcomes & Delivery Process

Once the foundation is in place, we focus on delivering against those agreed outcomes. Every project has unique needs, whether it’s a quick Proof of Value to gain stakeholder buy-in or a full-scale production deployment. To align delivery with these needs, we use structured workshops to validate assumptions, determine stakeholders, and outline clear business goals. Our agile approach is tailored to each project, balancing design and development sprints to ensure the right solutions are built efficiently. Throughout, a dedicated Project Lead and Customer Success Manager work to maintain alignment and clear communication.

Managing Risk with the Cone of Uncertainty

Risk is an inevitable part of any project, but managing it effectively is what ensures success. We use the Cone of Uncertainty to frame risk discussions with customers, helping everyone understand how project estimates and confidence evolve over time. By asking key questions about project maturity, stakeholder alignment, and technical familiarity, we assess risk levels early and implement strategies to mitigate them. Our pre-mortems anticipate potential challenges before they occur, while post-mortems allow us to continuously refine our approach for future projects.

Transparency & Consistency in Development

To maintain high-quality project execution, we use a structured yet lightweight Project Management Framework. This includes defined Gates that help ensure consistency from Sales through Engineering to Support. Our Checklists evolve with every project, incorporating lessons learned to keep improving delivery standards. Agile sprints keep development on track and Burn Up charts provide clear, real-time visibility into progress and budget. We also use a proactive RAG status system, flagging potential issues early so they can be addressed collaboratively—often working directly with customers to keep projects moving forward smoothly.
