Review: Raspberry Pi Partner Event 2024

Published on 18 Nov, 2024 by Jonathan

At the end of October, Green Custard Director Jonathan Custance and Principal Consultant Neil Bryan attended the Raspberry Pi Partner event.

It was the first time Green Custard had attended the event, so we were not sure what to expect. The main takeaway is a like minded group of other partners who can work together to build solutions for customers. There were interesting product announcements (we can't spill the beans, you'll have to wait), and we agree wholeheartedly with the view that Raspberry Pis are perfect for industrial applications, whether Compute Module or Pico.

It was also really inspiring to receive an update on the Pi Foundation and all the work that they do around the world to support education of Computer Science.

Aqua Libra kindly supplied one of their innovative Flavour Taps to provide attendees with refreshing still, sparkling, and lightly flavoured water. Just one fully stocked flavour tap can eliminate the need for 10,000 single-use bottles, so don’t forget your reusable water bottle!

The Flavour Tap is an inspiring example of sustainability driving innovation, using Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud services and Raspberry Pi devices to deliver secure and powerful performance. Thanks to the IoT features enabled in the tap, we know there were 369 x 250ml serves over the event, split the following way:

  • Water - 43
  • Cucumber, Mint & Lime - 54
  • Mano - 24
  • Mango and Peach - 44
  • Peach and Raspberry - 103
  • Electrolytes - 101

Insights like these are just one of the advantages of connected products.

As an official Raspberry Pi Design Partner and AWS IoT Specialist, we have utilised Raspberry Pi devices in many customer solutions.
