THE CUSTOMER
Established by former ARM executives in 2010 as a privately-funded power electronics company, the vision of Amantys is to transform the design, implementation and control of power electronic systems.
THE BRIEF
Amantys approached us with a need to produce a product demonstrator for a trade show. This would consist of a website embedded within the Amantys Power Insight Adapter, and would allow demonstration of key product functions on large television screens on Amantys’ trade show stand. There was a very short time between the project starting and the date of the trade show.
THE REQUIREMENTS
Amantys needed a software company to work on a solution with the ability to grasp the requirements and constraints quickly and to identify a clear development process for delivering on time.
"We had very tight timescales and were impressed how well GC grasped our requirements, and quickly delivered a product demonstrator which has impressed us and our customers alike."
Richard Ord,
Marketing Director, Amantys
THE SOLUTION
We worked closely with Amantys’ engineers to understand the exact user interface requirements of the product demonstrator and also to understand the interfaces within the Insight Adapter that could be used to show the required functionality. We also needed to be aware of the memory and processing limitations of the Insight Adapter’s embedded web server.
We quickly produced a mock-up of the user interfaces to allow the design to iterate rapidly. We then built an HTML5 web app which met all of the client’s requirements. It allowed review of live statistics and graphs, configuration and basic management of the Insight Adapter and connected Gate Drives. We delivered all of the content for the demonstrator so that it could be embedded within the trade show demonstration kit prior to shipping to the trade show.
The project was completed on time, was a great success at the trade show, and it is now being used by the sales team to promote the product around the world.
Our broad technology background, including familiarity with both embedded network-based products and HTML5 web apps, meant we could identify a clean architecture for building a robust product demonstrator. The architecture meant we was able to deliver a complex demonstrator and meet the tight schedule.
